Day Thirty-Three

Swim/Run

Woke up this morning a mess.  1) EYES  As I went to sleep last night my back was bothering me so I reached under the bed and pulled out a half foam roller to stretch out on.  It was dusty when I pulled it out, dust got in my eyes, but I just laid on the foam roller and went to sleep.  This morning when I woke up that dust had done a number on my eyes.  My right eyelid was droopy and swollen, a nice red and puffy look.  My left eye was swollen under my eye, I had four separate pouches of puffiness.  The bottom of my right eye looked like the top of a fat baby thigh.  2) BACK My back was still sore, two  knots on either side.  I know this is from keeping straight arms and a rounded back when I ride.  I am always trying to be aware of this when I ride, but always find myself in this position.  So after our longer ride yesterday I am in pain this morning.  3) FOOT My foot was bothering me yesterday.  I had a blister on my pinky toe and ran differently on Friday because of it. That Friday run is where this pain is from.  Today it is really sore.  I was afraid it could be a stress fracture.  I have had this sort of pain before and it has taken months to get rid of.   Yesterday Ryan told me to ice it and wear supportive shoes. So this morning at 720 I am walking around the house in Danskos and by 8 I had already iced my foot.  I think this lead my physical therapist to realize that this is really bothering me.  It is actually more than bothering me.  I want to cry because I have been so good about staying with my schedule, I cannot miss workouts because my foot hurts.  Ryan sits me on the bed to take a look at my foot.  I explain where it is hurting and he begins to rub it.  He is rubbing the bottom, even though I continue to express that it is the top of my foot that hurts.  I am wishing he would listen to what I am saying, but he just continues to rub the bottom/arch of my foot.  After about 7 minutes of painful rubbing (but not where my pain is) he is done.  I walk around and somehow he has healed me!!  Not completely I still feel the pain, but it is signifantly better.  There is hope that this is not going to hold me back.  I will still skip my run today, give it a rest, but thanks to Ryan I think I will be able to run fine on Wednesday!!!

I did swim today.  It is the first day I have swam in the sun. So nice!!!
