Day Thirty-Nine

Brick Workout

But really a nothing workout.  I was exhausted today.  Ryan and I went out to breakfast and did beach cleanup.  When we got home I crashed on the couch.  Then we did some running around.  I slept in the car for part of it.  Nothing was making me feel better, I am just soooo tired.  This happened to me last time I swam in the bay.  I believe that the cold water might be stressing my body too much.  I really want to swim without a wetsuit, but my body may not be able to take it.  I am going to have to think about this...

Day Thirty-Eight

Run/Swim

This was a committed day.  I woke up at 445 to swim, then went off to work.  We went to a Giants game in the evening so my only choice for a run (stairmaster) was to hit the gym between classes.  This actually worked out great, but I did come back to class with only a quick rinse off.

Day Thirty-Seven

Bike

Time was tight today so I just rode my bike in the living room on the trainer.  1:30 base ride.  I need to keep myself interested if I am on the trainer so I repeated 8 minute drills of standing climb, seated climb, and a third drill working on cadence.  This keeps me focused on riding and I tend to get better work, not just lazily pedal.  Watched the first half of Brokeback Mountain...will finish Tuesday.

Day Thirty-Six

Swim Run

Today I went out for a run, 50 minutes with 12-30 second sprints.  I lasted 1 minute and 58 seconds before I got back in my car.  My foot, that I thought was doing great, is in fact doing terrible!!  It hurt right away.  I decided to do the stair master instead.  This does not hurt my foot at all but doing the sprints seems ridicilous on the machine.  But I did it check check.

This is my swim day in the bay.  It was freezing today.  I did not even want to get out of my car and chat with the other swimmers, I just wanted to stay warm as long as I could.  We pay the teacher and then drive to a different location.  I almost just drove home, once I started up my car I felt such freedom I wanted to leave.  But I stuck it out.  Since Liz did not join me I was the only one without a wetsuit.  Did I mention it was freezing outside... jumping in the bay was more than difficult.  But we swam about a mile, I was happy when I was done.  I will not do the stair master on the way to swim in the bay next time, my legs felt weak when I was swimming.  Being a ways out and feeling a weakness is not good, so I will run earlier next time.

I was cold for hours after, not warming up after my hot shower with my layers of clothes on  brrrrrrrrr

Day Thirty-Five

Bike

I did my cycling on the trainer today.  One hour and 15 minutes with 10 one minute hill climbs.  It was good, hard work...but not that exciting to write about.  Watched the Octomom explain herself on Oprah.  Great news - my foot is feeling much better!!!

Day Thirty-Three

Swim/Run

Woke up this morning a mess.  1) EYES  As I went to sleep last night my back was bothering me so I reached under the bed and pulled out a half foam roller to stretch out on.  It was dusty when I pulled it out, dust got in my eyes, but I just laid on the foam roller and went to sleep.  This morning when I woke up that dust had done a number on my eyes.  My right eyelid was droopy and swollen, a nice red and puffy look.  My left eye was swollen under my eye, I had four separate pouches of puffiness.  The bottom of my right eye looked like the top of a fat baby thigh.  2) BACK My back was still sore, two  knots on either side.  I know this is from keeping straight arms and a rounded back when I ride.  I am always trying to be aware of this when I ride, but always find myself in this position.  So after our longer ride yesterday I am in pain this morning.  3) FOOT My foot was bothering me yesterday.  I had a blister on my pinky toe and ran differently on Friday because of it. That Friday run is where this pain is from.  Today it is really sore.  I was afraid it could be a stress fracture.  I have had this sort of pain before and it has taken months to get rid of.   Yesterday Ryan told me to ice it and wear supportive shoes. So this morning at 720 I am walking around the house in Danskos and by 8 I had already iced my foot.  I think this lead my physical therapist to realize that this is really bothering me.  It is actually more than bothering me.  I want to cry because I have been so good about staying with my schedule, I cannot miss workouts because my foot hurts.  Ryan sits me on the bed to take a look at my foot.  I explain where it is hurting and he begins to rub it.  He is rubbing the bottom, even though I continue to express that it is the top of my foot that hurts.  I am wishing he would listen to what I am saying, but he just continues to rub the bottom/arch of my foot.  After about 7 minutes of painful rubbing (but not where my pain is) he is done.  I walk around and somehow he has healed me!!  Not completely I still feel the pain, but it is signifantly better.  There is hope that this is not going to hold me back.  I will still skip my run today, give it a rest, but thanks to Ryan I think I will be able to run fine on Wednesday!!!

I did swim today.  It is the first day I have swam in the sun. So nice!!!
